Health Information Management
Reporting to the Coordinator of HIM Coding & Abstracting, the Data Analyst extracts data from various clinical/financial systems, converts data into a user-friendly report format, and provides interpretation and analysis on the information, as value-add to clients. The Data Analyst will support specific corporate and departmental CQI projects related to efficiency and data quality, and also help strengthen clinical benchmarking reporting delivery. Analysts may also submit mandatory data to various internal departments and external agency stakeholders, expertise in quality assurance is essential.
Status: Temporary Full-Time (12 months)
Rate of Pay: $33.64 per hour – $42.05 per hour
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week
Qualifications
- Successful completion of a College Diploma in Health Information Management, Business, Computer Systems Technology, Statistics or acceptable by hospital
- Undergraduate Degree preferred
- Certified Health Information Management required
- Minimum 2 years of recent relevant experience
- Understand coding and abstracting software (SQL coding, expert excel, Tableau, Power BI, statistics)
- Lean experience/certification
- Project management experience
- Advanced proficiency in data collection and management
- Detailed content knowledge and proficiency with associated provincial and/or national healthcare standards and best practices, metadata databases, and reporting systems
- Time management and organizational skills
- Analytical thinking
- Ability to prepare and analyze complex reports; optimize existing technology to automate current manual reporting processes for improved efficiency and effectiveness; create complex queries to expose trends within specified indicators
- Ability to understand and work with associated tools and applications
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Relationship management and demonstrated expertise as high performing team member and/or lead
- Ability to anticipate and respond to client needs in a timely and effective manner and keeps team members informed about issues
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC

Immunization Requirements
Before beginning employment at LHSC, all new hires will be required to:
- Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis;
- Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step);
- Provide proof of Health Canada-approved COVID-19 vaccination reflective of Ontario Health’s current definition of being fully vaccinated
