Health and Security Assistant at NSW Government -Hunter New England Local Health District

About the Role

  • Utilize your 1A Security License to its fullest extent ensuring the security and safety of all staff, patients and visitors.
  • Ensure protection of property and provide a wide range of patient-focused duties, including administration and cleaning.
  • You would be working in a high performing and Supportive team, and a flexible and supportive work environment.
  • You will be able to explore the quality of health care and have an opportunity to work with a variety of clinical and non-clinical staff, with support from direct managers.

Where you’ll be working

  • Hunter New England Health (HNE Health) provides a range of public health services to the Hunter, New England and Lower Mid North Coast regions.
  • Become a part of a high-performing and multi-disciplinary team in Emmaville & Tenterfield.
  • Tenterfield is a historic town in the rolling New England region of New South Wales and is home to elegant wineries and spectacular wilderness.
  • Tenterfield is approximately a 3-and-a-half hour drive from Brisbane, and approximately 2 hours from Armidale.
  • Emmaville, also known as Vegetable Creek, is a small rural town located in the Northern Tablelands of New South Wales. It was once a private town, and is now a service centre serving the local farming, grazing and mining communities.
  • Emmaville is approximately a 4-and-a-half hour drive from Brisbane, and a 90 minute drive from Armidale.

Requirements

  • Ability to complete all requirements of the Violence Prevention & Management course and subsequent refresher training of all mandatory training as determined by HNELHD and licencing requirements.
  • Willing to work in a COVID-19 quarantine facility.
  • Must have current Security Licence according to the Security Industry Act 1997 – Class 1 A.
  • Must have current Senior First Aid Certificate.
  • Must have current NSW Driver’s Licence (P2 License acceptable).
  • Willing to submit vaccination record / serology report should you be successful.

Additional Information

  • To be eligible for permanent employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or a permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport. Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable local candidate is identified for the position; in this instance, you may only be offered employment in line with the conditions and expiry date of your visa.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.

Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specific Diseases – this is a Category A position. Please read and understand NSW Health policy directive (PD2022_030). All new employees must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in the policy.
