The Knowledge, Information and Technology Services Branch is looking for a committed Scholarly Communication Librarian. The ideal candidate will be someone who shares NRC’s core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity
Working in the Collections Services team in NRC’s Library and Information Management Services, the Scholarly Communication Librarian supports LIMS’s role as the National Service Library and provider of knowledge and information to NRC and the Canadian innovation community. The incumbent of this position’s main responsibility is to support the research goals of the NRC through the advancement of its resource publishing and open science initiatives.
The successful candidate will provide expertise and leadership in copyright, fair dealing, scholarly communication, permissions, open science, open access publishing and open data that will enhance and promote NRC’s scholarly communication tools and publishing output. You will be part of a diverse, multidisciplinary team where communication and teamwork are important.

Education
An ALA accredited M.L.S./M.L.I.S. degree

Experience
- Experience working with copyright, scholarly communication, and open science in a government or academic setting.
- Recent experience* interpreting policies, procedures, and/or publishing agreements.
- Experience developing and presenting scholarly communication material to end users, demonstrating a working knowledge of current open access and scholarly communication issues.
- Experience in scientific library collection management is an asset.
- Recent experience is defined as experience gained within the last 5 years.

Candidates will be assessed on the basis of the following criteria:
Technical Competencies
- Significant knowledge of library and information science principles and practices, including the tools and solutions used to enable library services and collection management (e.g., ILL and ILS systems).
- Knowledge of current Canadian copyright legislation and copyright issues as they relate to scholarly communication, particularly in a Canadian government context.
- Knowledge of open science initiatives and current open data and repository best practices (e.g., FAIR principles), particularly in a Canadian government context.
- Demonstrated skills in written and oral communication.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and sustain stakeholder relationships in a professional environment.

Relocation
Relocation assistance will be determined in accordance with the NRC’s directives.
Compensation
From $85,363 to $96,330 per annum.
